There are a number of funeral services and burial benefits that are specially offered to veterans.
Burial Benefits
Certified Death Certificates - In the city of New York, United States Veterans are entitled to three free certified copies of the death certificate. A copy of the DD-214 Discharge Form or Statement of Service and Service Serial Number is needed.)
Military Honors - Military Honors will be granted by the branch of service in which the decedent served. (Also requires copy of the DD-214 Discharge Form or Statement of Service.)
Flag - A United States flag is presented to the next-of-kin to the decedent at the graveside service.
Presidential Memorial Certificate - A certificate of recognition of military service from the President of the United States of America. (Also requires copy of the DD-214 Discharge Form or Statement of Service.)
